I think it is all about access and courtesy. Unfortunately, our beaches here are limited because of cliffs, rocks federal/state restrictions, and private property access.

If you own a boat, a couple of personal water craft, and a crew to help you, then the bay/ocean is your oyster, you can kite where ever there is wind, and nobody will bother you.

Has any one heard of the latest that San Mateo/Foster City is on a plan to sure up the levy?

Got something in the mail a while back. It may have an impact on 3rd in the future.

Don't think this will impact 3rd Ave. As your note indicates Foster City has already taken care of raising the levee, and 3rd ave is in Foster City. In fact, the reason there are ramps in the levee at the 3rd ave area in Foster City is due to the efforts of the then Peninsula Board Sailing Assoc. which later merged with the SFBA. It is San Mateo that has not completed the required levee work. Don't know anything about Redwood Shores.

Some how I knew you knew of this Steve, always well informed.
However, this article states differently.

And I bet you also got this in the mail, seems that Foster City is directly related to San Mateo's levee issues:

yep..according to Army Corp and FEMA, Foster City is impacted. But Foster City (I believe) has done what it needs to do to the levees to avoid being "in a flood zone." It is the lack of action on the part of San Mateo that is impacting Foster City.

I'm waiting for when alameda is gonna need some serious walls built to prevent the island from flooding. Last year the storms brought water over the sand in a few spots on shoreline. When walking accross the street to our place i noticed that the water level in the storm drain was at sidewalk level! It's not getting better. Settling from landfill, raising water levels, erosion.
