Kevin,

I have never raced either but I am gonna. Come on! Maui Mike is racing too! He is going to be helping the Kite Naked crew with the Wainman Hawaii demo.

Sorry to all, he is not cooking!! :(

You will have to wait for the next Kite Naked Wainman demo in Sherman for his good eats!!

Paul,
The two racers in question asked Tim the day before the event if they could sail over. Tim told them no and the reason why and they decided to do so anyway. Bottom line is, 128 other racers heard the announcements and followed the rule. Simple. Straightforward. No drama. Please stop trying to make a mountain out of a mole hill!

You sound and write like a highly intelligent man but this is just getting silly....

Oh hell! Mikes in too? That changes everything :). I've got an ear to ear smile on my face and I'm looking forward to seeing you all! 128 racers last year and probably quite a few more this year makes me think it's going to turn into a Bay to Breakers event. I'm starting to feel the stoke again. Bring on the good times to Hell with the bad! :partyman: :partyman: :partyman:

OH my God, GreatWood, Kevin, Mike, and I'm assuming the rest of the SI Safety Crew? Add LMG and stir, sweet Jesus! Game ON! Kevin, you can stay at our palatial estate, once the workers have finished the tennis courts past the stables, near the 28 car garage, to the left of the cable park, behind the, um, hydroponic tomato project.

I want to have a great big fat party at our house! If only OllieG/Yoko/Curt Y Michelle/Ed/Deb and all were here to make beautiful music.....All the happy kids are welcome, I'll post details or hand out flyers at the event.

Paul, you know where LMG and I live, cerca el panteon? Come on out and let your hair down. We can always disagree, even heatedly, and still be friends. I'd catch your kite any time. And the rest of ya'll, come ON, xo GM/Torauni PS....Marina, Tim, et al, thanks for doing all the work to the make the event happen. I'll volunteer to do whatever ya'll need.....T

Believe me, we'd love to come down and be there for the event and to see everyone. It's been a while!

Regarding the race issues,it's simple, the race should be run in a legitimate and professional way and in accordance with the same rules used in the SF Race Series as set forth by the US Sailing organization. Many people are and have worked very hard to build up kite racing to be a recognized and legitimate form of sailing which has resulted in the US Nationals and we may even see a World event, and you never know, the Olympics.

The point is, if you're going to it and bill it as a legitimate event, run it in accordance with all accepted and known rules. To continue to build the racing aspect of the sport, races need to be run in a consistent and professional way. I don't know all the details of last years event, but Paul is someone who has a pretty long history, knowledge and involvement in sailing, windsurfing, kiting and racing. His intent isn't to negate the race but see that it's done right. If he feels there were some inconsistent rules, shortcomings or errors that affected the outcome and legitimacy of the race, I would be inclined to believe him. He knows what he's talking about and it seems no one is willing to admit anything but 100% success regarding last year as far as the race itself goes. If everyone wants to make sure it runs without a hitch this year, there are no disputes, and is clear and legit, Paul is someone you'd want on the committee.

Personally I'd like to see Paul work with the race committee also.. I dont know if that is possable now- but he is one of the best people for the job..
Speaking of job's maybe thats the point, we can take things a little too serious, we are talking about BRAGGING RITES not a World Cup qualifier.. Lets not forget- someday it may be just that- but untell then, we need to maintain prespective..
Lets try to claim PROGRESS not Prefection.. Lets learn from the past to build a better future while never-NEVER FORGETTING why we are here- FOR FUN!! THIS IS ABOUT FUN!!!

YES-YES-YES-, Run the races with fairness and integity- give a good sporting chance to all and let the cards fall as they will...
I for one will be there to simply Enjoy the scene-- I hope you all come and play along..
It's gonna be a BLAST!
