Not sure how far you want to go with this but if you like downwinders go to kiteadventures.com and go do some 37 mile downwinders everyday. i did it last year and looking at plane tickets to get there again this year.
so far R/T $886, hard to say no to that.

We dont have a coastline for downwinders here so forget about it.

Not sure how often Marty checks this post - but this is directly from him:

"Friends of the wind, a reminder for you.

3rd Annual Great White Downwinder - Dillon Beach, CA Friday May 29 to Sunday May 31, 2009

Down for some Great White Downwinders? Kick off Friday afternoon kiting waves at Dillon Beach. Saturday and Sunday bring a choice of 6 mile scenic downwinders.

The ever popular Tomales Bay downwinder starts with waves at Dillon Beach, funnels through the mouth of Tomales Bay, and slides past Hog Island to land at Grassy Point.

For the more adventuresome (cojones mas grandes), The Bodega Bay Downwinder launches through waves at Doran Beach, then traverses 6 miles of open ocean and rugged coast, landing at Dillon Beach.

BYOB Kite Camp at Lawson's Landing, just lee of the Dillon Beach sand dunes.

If the weekend brings no wind, the event is rain-checked to the next weekend(s).

Hope to see you first windy weekend after Memorial Day!"

I am looking into going to Brazil in the fall. Can't find the TAM direct flight from Miami - Fortaleza, anyone know when this flight goes? Maybe new post is in order.

Hay Stefaans, "We dont have a coastline for downwinders here so forget about it."
Circumnavigation of Farallons, Doran to Dillon, Stinson to OB, Crissy to OB, think globally, act locally.

all sound like fun(except crissy>ob)......with a chase boat
without....pretty risky to say the least, more like stupid :-k
and,by chase boat i don't mean the coast guard :)
peace,unity,love & havin' fun.
