I'm visiting family in Austin in early June. Considering bringing my gear and taking a trip down to Corpus. Anyone have any experience down there?

Re: Kiteboarding trip in June? TulumMexico, Cabarete, BVI, etc?
Hey Erin and anyone else interested...
My wife and I have two weddings two weekends apart in Asia end of may/first half of June. We have been talking about what to do during that time, and now we are thinking about spending the time in between is Bali!
And guess what-- their windy season is June-Aug! Check out the website below - Sanur looks epic with flat water inside and wave reefs on the outside! It really looks perfect.

Anyway our tentative dates are June 6-10, which aren't that flexible because of the weddings. If you or anyone is interested in coming, let me know! Also, if anyone has been there and has some travel tips, please post/PM me-- thanks!

My wife and I are heading down to South America in June for 6 months, we're going to be kiting and/or hammocking in NE Brazil for the first few months.

Yeah Bali and brazil are all certainly on my list for slightly more extended trips. My 2 month trip in Asia this winter means i cant be gone that long again for a little while so i am thinking more like 10 days or so. JJM where are you going in brazil?

I've been to Bali a few times. I'll PM you with details. It's awesome, but don't count on wind, I've never gotten it. Hopefully you surf or dive too. You'll have a great time even if you don't get to kite.

I got 2 months of wind in Sanur last year....July/August....not super strong, but out most days and upwind on a 12m. Nice waves on the reef, but I did sustain a few dings, watch it and keep high on the wave if you're not totally familiar with the reef as it can suck dry. You can scope things easily at low tide though as there's no water!
Guess that's another point about the place....only rideable at mid to high.
Check out north of Kuta/Seminyak as well, some nice riding over there, but not flat water.
(oh and if you want a nice, clean, fairly cheap place to stay...Little Pond Resort, 9 bucks a night....a little far away from where the locals seem to kite, but we just walked 5 minutes to the beach by us and kited there no problems).

Bali, Thailand, Vietnam, Philippines... 9 months or so... lots of kiting..... did a lot of exploring and tried to kite some new spots as well as the "obvious" in that part of the world. Mucho fun (even dragging 2 kite bags around!)
I was kinda surprised at the wind in some spots (Bali being one of them)... to this day, I still don't know why people feel they wanna congregate in a square foot of water (avoid Boracay at all costs these days...a real shame!).
let me know if you've got any questions.
