Alameda's season is starting now.
Note: Crown Beach is a long sandy beach :) as opposed to Berkley, which is a long rocky KITEMARE #-o ... (waiting to happen)

Have Fun, L.M.G.

Windgirl,

I think you must have timed it perfect to move to the bay area. Our season starts in late March and April. But el Nino seemed to have lend a hand for a early season. This strong wind has made Alameda enjoyable cause imo, summer there, is a bit light to my liking. Berkeley is good but I recall it's pretty much straight onshore. No bad if you know what you are doing.
I recommend you make a little trip southward to 3rd Avenue in Foster City. Wind there is good. Or a trip to the Delta to a place called Sherman Island..again imo the last 2 are the best spots on the bay.
If you fancy some waves then go to Waddell just North of Santa Cruz.
At this stage of the year there are still some winter storm. If so and the wind is coming from the south, give a try at Half Moon Bay by the Jetty.
I hope this helps.
windy regards,

windgirl,

You have to let people know your skill level and riding style so you can be advised appropriately, choices:

noob
beginner
advanced beginner
intermediate
advanced
just plain badass

You picked the right time to move here.

You know, guys don't get nearly the rapid response that I'm seeing here. I wonder why. :?:
I'm sure if your skills are up to kiting Berkeley, Charlie will be happy to help you out with local info. If he's not around, ask for Ollie. Just joking!

Best of luck and see you soon!

Hey windgirl,

If you don't mind wet and wild, head to Alameda after lunch for some wet southerly winds. Bring small kites.

Yeah, maybe Alameda tomorrow, you never know, but you probably might want to prepare for both high wind and low wind conditions. There's some northwest clearing wind prediction tomorrow.

Other option is head to 3rd Avenue, but watch out for low tide late afternoon, mudfest. If you go to San Mateo, look for Sonny.
