I wish spring would show up so we would all be too tired from kiting to extend a post which, really, is all done. I'm hoping next week gets back to normal after this (last?) minor storm rolls through on Tues. see u on the H20

I have surfed a good part of my life and the big surf breaks are "Invitational" this might be a good practice for certain kite spots?? I have kited for a few years now, and I still feel that Berkeley is one of those kiting spots, that you should be "Invited" to by a kiter who has the local knowledge, and in his or her opinion feel you can safely kite there.

In order for this to work all the locals that kite there will have to draft an agreement with the "City of Berkeley" to post a sign to that effect. If this will save lives they will have no choice but to listen to your plea. If they "Don't" and someone is killed there??.. at least you put forth the effort for your fellow kiters.

Hello d.b.

Tis better to be schooled then to get schooled fo sho.. this site saves lives and if kiters don't post here? It may show up in the "Headlines" and that is a post I don't want to wake- up Too!!! Don't get me wrong though.. I understand that you just want to kite and stop reading all this smack. See Ya in the Trees" :icon-lol: Just kidding!!!!

I'm not tired of the thread yet, I think there are important issues being raised. I don't know about the "invitation only" thing, though. If someone has been kiting at another location, and doesn't happen to have a pal who they know also kites at Berkeley, how would they get invited? Or if they're from out of town (as some posters here claim), what do they do? I mean, I get the underlying concept, just not sure about the process.

You cant regulate common sense.

And you can't tell people where to park on a public street,,,

You can ask for "consideration" but you cant regulate or EXCLUDE!!

Self policing "SAFETY ISSUES" is GREAT!! (as long as you can remain unbiased)

But the truth is WE can ONLY SUGGEST (legally)
*************************************************************

SO HERE IS MY SUGGESTION ON PT.EMERY:
Don't go there- Bad Ju-Ju!! (REAL) Friends don't invite friends INTO trouble...
(That location is a BAD accident waiting to happen)
I suggest kiters that want to kite Berkley do it ALONE, Don't bring your friends and DONT TALK ABOUT IT LATER-
*************************************************************

Kiting locations like Pt. Emery have the ability bring this sport DOWN!!
But, It's your choice-

What I will say is this: If you TRY to EXCLUDE others, you WILL find trouble... and that trouble will come in ways you LEAST EXPECT.
