I only had to call off two people on waves so it wasn't really THAT bad......

I'm sure some people are bitching about me, too.

I went to Sherman once last summer, it was too windy to take either of my kites out, but I did notice how many people were all in one spot which seemed stupid to me (right in front of the launch zone, which already looked sketchy and tight - two kites wrapped over my head in the 5 minutes I stood there). Anywhere I've ever gone out I spent my first 5 minutes getting as far from everyone else as I can. I'm not quite ready for waves yet, but even when I'm ready skill-wise, I'm not sure I'm down with something where I have to wait in line, I've never been into sports that create crowds. The main place I go out is 3rd and even there everyone bunches up in front of the rocks for obvious reasons. I only went to the jump zone ONCE when I had a dedicated person there taking photos of me for 30 minutes, and even then I could barely stand having to fight 5 other people for the same tack (who all assumed maybe my girl was there to take pictures of them?). I'd much rather be a half mile upwind in the channel all alone. Some people just want to go back and forth in that jump zone all day long...

Well, your solution is in your blog.

Have your gurl wear provocative yet tasteful outfit, ..., send her to a spot you do not wish to go,..., have her start taking pictures with the flash on (with or without film),..., you will have your spot all to yourself, ..., at least for awhile.

it's unfortunately/fortunately a spectator sport. Like most achievements we make, we want some praise or recognition. Not to empower those who over do it but it is at least understandable on a human level why it occurs. As a test, notice when a boat full of chicks in bikinis passes by upwind-a lot of people will clutter to show off to them. We are driven to kiteboard because we see others that are very good at it on videos or at local spots. What fun would it be if you pulled a new trick, lost your kite and broke some bones if no one saw it? As teenagers will always do stupid things to seek attention, it is the same group of kids that are to blame for most of these incidents. I am not one to set examples but I do believe that approach might work.

If you are a really good rider, show off who cares, but if the people like me (half ass kiter) start showing off look out! thats when the launch zone is a mess. :text-threadjacked: we were talking about mowin the lawn.
Riding used and closeout kites and boards from e-bay,craigslist,ikitesurf, and local surf shops. Now riding home made foils
