Thanks everybody! Looking forward to some flat(er) water! I've got a laundry list of skills to work on and can't wait.

Noob coming to third tomorrow.....look out!
Looks like wind is supposed to be straight offshore according to the forecast I'm looking at. Coming from due west for tomorrow. Is that normal? Which meter gives the best indicator of wind there? Should I be concerned? The thought of sending my kite over to O-town doesn't seem fun. Maybe I'm just looking at the wrong sensor?
Sorry to ask the same questions a thousand before me have asked. I won't be a noob forever. (and will gladly repay the kindness when anyone wants to come down here!)

best wind is wnw, like today. You don't want to ride when it has any south it in.

While in general the shoreline of the bay runs from northish to southish, if you zoom in to the 3rd ave kiting beach on google earth or maps, you will see that this section runs West to East. Thus WNW wind creates the ideal kiting condition for that section of the shoreline

So I finally made it up to 3rd. Kind of a forced choice as I blew out a panel in the canopy of my 11m and wanted to drop it off with Sonny. I did have an extra hour to kill and was able to get on the water. Thanks to all who gave me the low down on the spot. I rigged my lines up going the wrong way at the upper launch but since no one was there I guess I got a reprieve.
Wind was a little shifty but I had fun. Most everyone was friendly and helpful. There were a few grumpy old farts giving stinkeye but being from Santa Cruz it pretty much rolls off my back.
Overall a really nice scene and a great bunch of people. Maybe some day I can return the hospitality.
