Nexus, believe it or not I'm NOT flying Caution... Nothing wrong with them but got a great deal on a quiver of Starkites.
I had a great time and can't wait to come back.

I got to admit. My first time at Waddell last year I pulled up and was seriously intimidated by all the Caution kites. I got out my SS RPM and felt severely out of place. I didn't have a pump and befriended a few guys on the beach, getting the local info, and came to realize that everyone i met was SUPER FRIENDLY. I get more attitude at Sherman, and I know most of them. I had a few groms on the water give me some glares as I body dragged through the lineup retrieving my board but thats just surf for you.sc-surfer wrote: Wind was a little shifty but I had fun. Most everyone was friendly and helpful. There were a few grumpy old farts giving stinkeye but being from Santa Cruz it pretty much rolls off my back.
Going down on Sunday, with my pops. Hope it blows!!! Best spot in California.

Santa Cruz is magic too - A lot of people you see out there flying Caution have been there since the beginning and are guardians of the camaraderie and stoke of the sport.

Hey guys - another newbie here planning on making the shift from Alameda over to 3rd, and hopefully tomorrow (6/24). I've met a number of folks at Alameda - Max was really helpful and forthcoming with advice there - and took lessons from the Boardsports crew. At this point, I am comfortable going upwind, have done a couple of self rescues and had a couple of "oh man, what now?" moments. I'll definitely look for Sonny whenever I do make it out there, and have found it really encouraging to read the posts here from the regulars/experts about helping us noobs learn. Thanks and see you soon. -Paul
