Thank you very much Ovi, appreciate the heads up. It definitely sounds like my kites, but would like to believe that someone just happen to have the same size and brand kites and thought a shop would like to buy some used kites. But I am having a hard time with that scenerio, so I might have to go to plan B.

Take care,
Mitchell

Dying to find out how this plays out. I can't imagine that stolen kites could be sold anywhere near the SF bay area as we are such a small and connected community. The thieves are most likely not aware of this and also did not realize that their phone number would be visible and so readily result in their being apprehended

A similar scenario played out in the NW Kite Forum just recently. I'll post the link if I can find it, a guy lost his board (w/ name and number) and then it was seen posted on Craigslist for Sale. He contacted the guy and got his # but the guy hung up and blocked his call. He asked people on the forum to harass him (kinda funny) to try to get him to give the board back. When the cops were contacted and asked to track the phone number there was nothing they could do.

Good Luck. Set up a sting, post an add looking for kites.

don't harrass him that's mistake #1, you'll never get your kites back... gee, n3wbz0rs.

got to meet with intentions to buy.
Then drop the bomb once you verify they are your kites. If you call or meet a cop. They will give you a hand by hanging around the parking lot and step in when the discussion starts after a signal or something. You don't want to get stabbed or shot.

Meeting MUST happen. Nobody else call. Mitch, you gotta take care of business. say your new to kiting that you heard good things about those kites. Don't know more than him, and ask to meet in good time, if you rush it, if you're a dick, if you ask him too much and he doesnt know about kites, he will flee.

The best situation, you get your kites back, he'll probably get arrested if you want. Spend a few hours in Jail and he'll never steal a kite ever again. The worse, you never see your kites.

what a punk..! good luck

Again thanks everyone for all the good ideas and support. Steve you're a saint again, appreciate your more then generous offer. It just seems to be a growing trend lately, where they can see you either go out on the water or head off on the trail and they know they have some time. But as I keep chanting to myself they're just things and can be replaced. I have been chanting a lot lately, I'm not quite there yet, hopefully it should start to help soon....

Let it blow through September and hope for even freakish windy October for all.
