Yeah, I blew it both days. Sunday was lining up OK but came up on the late side and didn't want to drive for such a short session. Saturday I called it too early; the sensors started out southwest with outer bouys blowing offshore so I assumed the forecast high had moved in (you know what they say about assume). The VA hospital flag in Palo Alto was southwest when I rode by it at 2 so I was thinking I'd made the right call. I think I just need to live closer like Sonny! Glad y'all got it; Jack said it was steady and boosty.

Since I'll be working in Alameda at the end of the week I forecast that it won't blow there!

None of the sensor related to 3rd was showing SW on Saturday. You don't want to use Palo Alto to figure out 3rd AVE wind. If anything, Palo Alto can blow WNW when 3rd is blowing SW. I used to go to Palo Alto to windsurf when 3rd is blowing SW.

Not sure what you're talking about either re:high pressure +thermals=bad.

Some of the best days at 3rd and crissy are on those late day thermal winds. They tend to be super steady meaning you can get more power out of each kite size. At crissy you have the problem of the bubble inside, but if you're smart you'll come in early.

My best days at 3rd in the history of all days have been on days where it is 90+ degrees and the wind didn't start until 4pm. That being said, a lot of the best days this year were when the forecasters call for "faint upper teens" or no wind at all.
