SpaceRacer wrote:Thanks! You guys are lucky! I am in Idaho, where I kite the Columbia Gorge in the summer and snowkite in the winter but would be stoked to live somewhere where I could kite in my own backyard 8 months a year. Fortunately I can work on the road so looking to spend March, April and or May in your area. Can you tell me or is there a link on how many days on average you kite in those months? Average temps, average wind speeds? Any info would help.

Thanks,

Paul
at that time of the year you are pretty much looking for storm system.
You can ride the front winds before the rain or the clearing winds after.
OB, Half moon bay and alameda are good spots for that kind of wind.
Then comes summer with Waddell, Crissy, 3rd ave and TI.

I just don't know why you are introducing HI to the topic - he is asking about here. (Plus even early Spring in HI can also very hit or miss.)

ok, you got me Fozzie. If critical thinking = off topic, not answering the question, then yes, I was raised in a box.

Sorry Birdman--let me restate: If he is open to places to live and kite other than the Bay Area considering that he can work anywhere--then HI would be a much better option than the BA for a variety of reasons

As for the conditions of the Bay Area during that time, I will let you and other locals keep us on topic and speak to that

Bay Area's definitely great for kiting, but you've got Rufus and Rosey! :shhh:

SF is a great area for kiting where you can choose your spot based on your riding preferences and wind direction. You can kite all year long, not a problem.
