Hi all,
I am new to the kiting scene in the North Lake Tahoe are and believe there are very light wind conditions. Could someone please highlight the similarities and differences between the Zephyr and the Fat Lady? I'm looking in buying either one of those. Thanks and happy kiting!

Re: Ozone Zephyr vs Blade Fat Lady
I have no experience with the Fat Lady but I have ridden and can comment on the Ozone Zephyr.
Light wind kite design is arguably less straightforward than a kite designed for well-powered conditions as there a lot of additional opportunities for failure in the experience that you need to try and engineer a solution around.
Brozone has loads of experience designing & building wings and their lightwind kite is no exception. You can't go wrong with it and in my opinion it depowers well into high teen windspeeds should things be up and down or start to pick up on you
The kite is simply amazing -- good luck!

I've ridden the Fat Lady a fair amount, but not the Ozone.
Fat Lady has a fair amount of bar pressure. Decent kite, light weight, but light construction.
I will let you ride it if you want. I'm in Benicia.

Ozone Zephyr vs Blade Fat Lady
I own the Zephyr and think very highly of the kite. I'm a low skill kiter and old so I ride Alameda quite a bit for the safety factor and mellow vibe. I ride the Zephyr at least 50% of the time there. It's solidly made but not surprisingly it is slow turning. As Aloha said the depower is terrific. I have stayed out out with it into the high teens and yet can have a decent time mowing the lawn in as low as10kts with a big board.
I have never ridden the fat lady but I have been told by someone who rode both that the fat lady does better in light wind but doesn't depower quite as well. I do notice bar pressure with the Zephyr.
Let us know what you get and how it works for you.

Re: Ozone Zephyr vs Blade Fat Lady
I was considering these exact same two kites, but my objective was light wind conditions at the coast.
I ended up getting a 14 Meter North Rebel 2011, it's not a 17, but how much difference can that last little bit make? (I don't know, maybe someone has ridden both?)
It goes really well in light conditions, but the construction is really good. By that I mean it is strong enough to survive multiple drops in the surf. I didn't get the Zephyr because I understood the material to be lightweight.
I also really like the 5th line. Kinda weird the first few times, but I feel really safe with it. With a huge kite it's nice to know if you get into overpowered conditions you can punch out safely.
Just my two cents, I really love the Rebel! Hope this helps.

Re: Ozone Zephyr vs Blade Fat Lady
Lots of talk elsewhere that these big kites turn like 12m kites....
Thats not the case. The Fat Lady has lightweight construction and is pretty nimble for its size, small struts, smaller leading edge.
For the Fat Lady ...it is a 17m that pulls like a 17M...
If your into giving lightwind a shot, it is a good option.
