Ban on Kitesurfing !

Post by DJthe3rd » Mon May 07, 2012 10:24 pm

New York State Parks have a ban on kitesurfing for all beaches!

http://www.change.org/petitions/new-yor ... itesurfing

We are unable to kite legally, which is not right, please help us to change this. The more people that sign, the easier this will be in the long run. Thanks for any help you provide, this will not be a one man job, I'm trying to do this so we can all enjoy the sport that we love. It's not fair that we cannot setup wherever we desire and go out for a session. Freedom is the basis of America and it's time to fight for our right to share the ocean as well. Please take a few minutes of your time to help save some kitesurfers the anguish of not being able to go out and do what we love. Thanks again !

SUCKS! Everyone should sign this petition... so what if we'll probably never kite NY. I know it is posted all the time, but it only takes a few unfortunate incidents, and a ban like this can happen anywhere. Unfortunately, our sport is still viewed as fringe, extreme, even "dangerous", by much of the general population. WE MUST ALWAYS: police our own beaches for under-experienced or dangerous kiters, be overly polite/considerate to other beach-goers and keep the reality of bans like this in the back of our mind.

Dude, if that's true, you'll get support. You don't have to sell it so hard. But your petition letter sucks. You need to get someone to write something more formal, and it should reference the actual ban. Speaking of which, you should also let the forums you are contacting know more details. Who made the ban? Where can we see it and evaluate it? Is there any kind of comment process? etc.

Yeah!
"We should POLICE our own beaches", and make a CITIZEN ARREST for all those who violate the RULES!
We need to TELL PEOPLE WHAT TO DO!!

This is why kiters suck and snowboarders rule! you will never hear that shit coming out of a snowboarder...

Police our own beaches... give me a break. Police yourself to the water, that's all that matters.

Not with the kite police ;)

It's too bad to see that kiters prefer to make other kiters lives difficult on the beach, pick on beginners and students, yell and complain, instead of doing what we're here for to do - enjoy the ride.
It doesn't make sense to ruin the experience just so you can have an experience.

REAL kite police dont stop people from ENJOYING "THEIR" Session, they just help REGULATE the INSAINTY and instill some form of ORDER so the PUBLIC can SAFELY ENJOY their day too....

Eli I suggest that the next time you step up to the plate (to kite), you take a look around SEE if there is ANYTHING you can do be HELPFUL before you head out....
