Camping near Alameda?

Post by highvoltj » Fri Apr 03, 2015 12:24 pm

Okay!!! So I am finally taking 'Legit' lessons Via Boardsports in Alameda and since I live in Santa Rosa, I am hoping to camp nearby for the weekend to hopefully get more time in after lessons.
I was looking at possibilities for camping and found Berkeley Aquatic Park....is that doable?
Anyway, any "enlightenment" is much appreciated!! I am so stoked to be finally doing this!!!
Thanks so much in advance!!!

I shuddered when you wrote camping and Berkeley Aquatic Park in the same sentence. You don't want to camp there. It's also not that close to Alameda. A Motel 6 in Alameda might be the best choice?

East Oakland around High St and International Blvd is close to Alameda
Lots of nightlife in that area for after kiting. Pimps, hookers, crack dealers, drive by shootings, Etc..

or you could stay in West Oakland which has different stuff...drive by shootings, crack dealers, hookers, pimps, etc

Kite safe!!

I remember seeing a campsite on Air BnB or you could find a camp site in someone's back yard if you do a Craigslist ad.

The "East Bay" is fine in most places, there's just a few you want to stay out of. Alameda is one of the good ones, just across the bridge from Alameda.... not so much.
