I've been in the bay area for 4 years now, and I feel like every year the wind at 3rd has turned a little more westerly. I actually emailed iKitesurf last year thinking their sensor was shifting. This year, it's gone SW. Is it climate change? El Nino? La Nina? All in my head?

Re: What happened to NW wind?
Agreed.
Same thing is happening at coyote: inside switching more westerly to WSW and becoming completely unreliable.
Mike Godsey from ikitesurf mentioned that late phenomenon this year in his backcasts and said they had no idea why this was now happening, but that they were digging and running new models for it.
I didn't notice it much last year as I spent most of my time riding on the east bay (most of my kite buddies moved there in the past couple of years) but DEFINITELY noticed it this year as I always remembered clearing wind in the spring to fill in all the way inside at third and coyote, but not this year: sessions I've had so far at those spots felt more like the end of the season when the wind shifts west and dies quickly in the inside.

It's a great video to watch once a year and ask yourself : what is the cheese in my life? Is it running out and time to look for new? For our simple Kiting minds cheese = wind lol

Re: What happened to NW wind?
I disagree. I think it's way more complex than that.
