If you ride a quiet/silent Sword 2, please share your tuning wisdom!
I have been trying to get rid of the whistling noise my foil makes, through multiple sanding sessions, still to no avail. The pitch is changing, but I cannot get rid of it altogether, and it is still loud enough to bother me and anyone who rides by.
The last time out, I tried the method of putting clear packing tape on all trailing edges and removing individual pieces at a time to try to zero in on the problem area. But this is clearly not a 100% scientific approach.
Yes the foil was silent with all the edges taped. But then a tiny bit of noise came back when I removed the tape from the rear stabilizer. It got louder and changed with every piece of tape I removed after that (front wing, then 5 mast pieces of tape). What does one conclude from that?
I understand the issue of turbulent flow off the trailing edges. So far, I have been addressing trailing edges as per George's recommendations in the video below.
1. If you silenced your singing/whistling Sword 2 through sanding, how did you achieve this?
2. Did you need to sand mast +wing surfaces in addition to trailing edges?
3. Anything else that I should know?
