They used to have direct flights but now have to switch planes at Santa Ana. It is still totally worth flying Sounthwest. I wish they would have flights to La Paz.le noun wrote:That's what I've heard. You have to connect at SD for cabo though, no?Sonny wrote:I usually fly Southwest because just for these reasons. I have paid $0 in baggage fee in all the years flying Southwest to both SPI and Baja. Last year I took 3 large suitcases and one golf bag which contained, twin tip, surf board, foil board, and the foil. I kept all the bags less than 50 pounds, did not even get questioned.

Re: $150 fee on American Airlines
lately, I have been saying that my board bag is a snowboard bag on my way back to the bay area. It's a harder sell going to a tropical destination, but on the rebound, you can just say you are headed to the mountains to ski. I've had someone open the bag before and they didn't know what they were looking at.

I flew to Cabo on AA from Sacramento with a NSI Golf bag. No issues $25 each way. No issues last summer either from Sacramento to JFK. I made sure my bag was under 50lbs limit.
