I wish more kite brands offered their boards without grip pads and especially fins. Fins are way too personal. Regular surfboards aren't spec'ed with fins and grip, so why does the kite industry "force" these items onto us and then charge $1k+. At least Firewire gets it right and sells it as the board only. I'd rather pay $900 and have the option to dial my board in with grip and fins that I prefer than spend the same amount or more $ and have a "fixed" board that may or may not work for me.

Sounds like you've never ordered a board not off the rack with standard construction. (yes that is atrocious grammar)
Listing gear is bad, and you should feel bad.

Thanks for all the responses. I'm leaning to the Vader as almost everyone who has one loves it. Definitely wanna try it first though.

Vader will be great for smaller waves - like most summer days at Waddell. On bigger days you may prefer more conventional high performance shape like Caution Trespass.
